Editorial Statement Agency Ubiquity: Games, Ontology, Cinema   The inaugural edition of the multiparadigmatic journal of student research “Meraki” centers on the theme of agency, which plays a crucial role in a student's self-realization across the domains of education, science, and culture. Its pervasive nature is manifested through various aspects it imbues students’ performances with—be it media, philosophy or... philosophy of media! Acting as a connecting thread, agency permeates through the layers of one's self, leaving an indelible impression of a conscious subject's role on a non-realizing consciousness. Consequently, this omnipresent phenomenon gives rise to topics explored within this issue, shedding light on the imprints left by agency within games, ontology, and cinema.   The idea of agency being central in the realm of education has motivated us to create the academic journal you are currently exploring. "Meraki" (μεράκι) is a Greek word meaning “made with soul.” For us, it encapsulates the dedication and personal investment students put into their intellectual endeavours. Student research, essays and creative coursework have the potential to embody the essence of meraki, and with the inception of our journal, we aim to restore agency to students' papers. Meraki journal enables students to have their work published and showcase the fruits of their studies to the SAS academic community and beyond. Our guiding principle, "from students and for students," is essential in fostering the utmost sense of agency from both perspectives, empowering students to take ownership of their scholarly pursuits.
